Moneta Markets Obtains UAE Category 5 Licence

Moneta Markets announced on August 3, 2026, that its UAE entity, Moneta Global Financial Services LLC, had received a Category 5 licence from the United Arab Emirates Capital Market Authority.

The approval gives Moneta Markets a locally established and regulated entity for its authorised UAE activities. It does not provide the entity with full brokerage powers or permission to execute forex and derivatives trades for clients.

What a Category 5 Licence Permits

The UAE regulator classifies Category 5 as “Arrangement and Advice.”

Activities within this category can include introducing clients to an appropriately licensed financial services provider, promoting financial products, providing financial consultation, or performing approved advisory functions. The exact permissions depend on the activities listed on the individual company’s licence.

The regulator defines introducing as inviting a person to enter an agreement with a licensed entity that will provide the financial service. The introducing firm does not execute the resulting transaction itself.

The Licence Does Not Authorise Forex Brokerage

The Capital Market Authority states that a company holding only a Category 5 licence cannot conduct brokerage in spot foreign exchange, over-the-counter derivatives or unregulated commodity contracts.

The licence also does not permit the company to execute client orders, manage investment portfolios or carry out trading operations.

This distinction means Moneta Global Financial Services can perform only the activities specifically approved by the regulator. Any trading execution, client-fund custody or brokerage service must remain with an entity holding the necessary authorisation.

Moneta Plans a Larger UAE Presence

Moneta Markets said the licence forms part of its longer-term expansion strategy in the United Arab Emirates and the wider Middle East and North Africa region.

The company plans to invest in local personnel, governance, compliance systems and relationships with regional clients and business partners. It said the licensed entity would provide greater clarity about which company conducts its approved UAE activities.

Moneta Markets has not announced that the Category 5 entity will directly hold customer funds or execute trades. Products, protections and account arrangements will continue to depend on the legal entity through which each customer receives services.

Why the Licence Scope Matters to Clients

Customers should distinguish between a regulated local presence and a full brokerage licence.

Before opening an account, a customer should confirm the legal entity named in the agreement, the regulator supervising that entity, its approved activities and the company responsible for holding funds and executing orders.

These checks remain important in markets where positions can respond quickly to official intervention in the Japanese yen, changes in demand for the US dollar and interest-rate decisions affecting global markets.

A regulatory licence does not remove the financial risks associated with leveraged forex or contract-for-difference trading.

What Happens Next

Moneta Markets is expected to develop its UAE operations within the limits of the Category 5 approval.

The company has not provided a timetable for expanding its local team or disclosed which additional regional services it plans to introduce. Any future activity will depend on the specific permissions granted to Moneta Global Financial Services and the licences held by other entities involved in providing trading services.

In brief

Moneta Markets has obtained a Category 5 licence from the UAE Capital Market Authority. The approval may cover introducing or advisory activities, but it does not authorize the company to execute client orders or provide forex and derivatives brokerage.
